Maintaining good dental health!

To maintain good dental health, brush with fluoride toothpaste twice daily for two minutes, clean between teeth daily with floss or a water flosser, and visit your dentist for checkups at least once a year. Limit sugary and acidic foods, drink fluoridated water, eat calcium-rich foods, and avoid tobacco and excessive alcohol.

Daily Habits for a Healthy Mouth

  • Brush Twice Daily:

Use fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled brush to clean all surfaces of your teeth for at least two minutes each session.

  • Clean Between Teeth:

Floss daily to remove plaque from areas your toothbrush can't reach. A water flosser or interdental brush can be a good alternative if flossing is difficult.

  • Stay Hydrated:

Drink plenty of fluoridated water to help wash away food particles and keep saliva flowing.

  • Use Fluoride:

Choose a fluoride toothpaste, as fluoride helps prevent cavities and strengthens tooth enamel.

Diet and Lifestyle Choices

  • Limit Sugar and Acid: Sugary and acidic foods and drinks can erode enamel, leading to cavities.

  • Eat Tooth-Friendly Foods: Incorporate calcium-rich foods like milk, yogurt, and cheese, and eat crunchy fruits and vegetables such as apples and carrots to stimulate saliva.

  • Avoid Tobacco and Alcohol: Smoking and chewing tobacco increase the risk of gum disease, tooth loss, and oral cancer. Excessive alcohol consumption also dries out the mouth and contributes to tooth decay.

Professional Care

  • Regular Dentist Visits:

Get a dental checkup at least once a year, even if you wear dentures. Dentists can detect oral cancers, cavities, and other health issues.

  • Use Protective Gear:

Wear a mouthguard for contact sports or other high-risk activities to protect your teeth from injury.
